300 million Indian citizens lack access to reliable electricity.

An average citizen in the Indian state of Bihar consumes less energy than it would take to power a 60-watt light bulb for six hours a day for a year. Yet, as hundreds of thousands of people in India continue to struggle to move into the middle class, the demand for energy will only grow.

EPIC-India researchers are working with government and industry partners to expand reliable access to energy in India through cutting-edge market approaches and incentives.
