Swarna is a Senior Manager – Research and Policy with EPIC India and comes with eight years of experience in urban environment policy. At EPIC India, she is leading the Methane and Waste portfolio and building the Environment program. Swarna possesses a strong understanding of India’s urban governance frameworks, having worked closely with 10+ state governments and 30+ Urban Local Bodies on varying issues, including waste management, urban mobility, climate resilience, and municipal finance. Her last workplace was the World Resources Institute, India, where she worked with the Sustainable Cities and Transport team. She is passionate about integrating the needs of vulnerable populations into the processes of urban development, energy transition and climate resilience building. Trained as an urban planner and policymaker, she is adept at navigating complex urban challenges and implementing innovative strategies to drive sustainable and inclusive outcomes.
Swarna has a Master’s in Public Policy from Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore and a Bachelor’s in Urban Planning from the School of Planning and Architecture, Bhopal.
