Intern – Transport Research & Programmatic Unit (TRPU)

EPIC India is seeking a full-time Intern to work with the Transport Research & Programmatic Unit (TRPU) on vehicular pollution abatement initiatives. This internship offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about air quality, environmental policy, and sustainable transport to gain hands-on experience in a policy-oriented, real-world setting.

Location: New Delhi/ Remote Start Date: September 15, 2025

Full time (40 hours per Week) / Part time (20 hours per Week)

Program Description: The intern will work across multiple projects under the TRPU, with tasks designed to provide exposure to policy research, project coordination, and stakeholder engagement.

Specific Responsibilities: The intern will be expected to work across various project workflows and cross-functional teams to ensure smooth and coordinated execution of tasks. Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Research & Policy Support: Conduct background research on best practices, policies, and technologies for reducing vehicular pollution. Prepare literature reviews and monitor ongoing regulatory changes and policy discussions on vehicular emissions in India.
  • Communication and Knowledge: Dissemination Assist in preparing communication materials, policy briefs, reports, and presentations for various stakeholders. Support the team in organizing workshops, policy dialogues, and dissemination events to share research findings.
  • Project and Field Support: Help plan and execute field studies, coordinating with government agencies, industry stakeholders, and research partners. Provide administrative support for project implementation, including documentation, scheduling, and coordination of activities.

Deliverables: Documentation to be prepared as per project requirements, with weekly project updates submission.

Expected Timeframes: Weekly project updates and Monthly work reports

Intellectual Property Rights: All items produced from this project will be owned by the University of Chicago Trust.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Pursuing or having completed an undergraduate degree in Economics, Public Policy, International Development, Management, Environmental Studies, Transportation, Engineering, or related fields.
  • Interest in evidence-based policymaking, environmental sustainability, and transport-sector challenges in India.
  • Strong motivation to contribute to social impact and improve air quality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, or similar tools for creating visually compelling and quality outputs (preferred).
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Python, Stata, or R for research and quantitative analysis (preferred).

This intern role will be 3- or 6-months duration, without benefits. Renewal of the contract is subject to the availability of funds. Apply before September 1, 2025, 3:00PM.
